Having spent most of her formative years getting lost within the captivating gardens of her uncle Daisy went on to explore the interior world of space and experience under renowned interior designer, Kerry Phelan of KPDO. Whilst maintaining a professional practice as a freelance Interior Designer Eckersley's art discipline provides an opportunity to be true to it's authentic expression, a way to explore her uncompromised field of vision.
Her latest series explores the atmosphere within the chaos of confinement, painted during lockdown, her works convey a tension between landscape and the threshold of the un-conscious. The landscape reflected in the mirror of the mind. Memory. Mystery. The title of the series, Gradient Zenith, a geographical analogy, refers to a polarity between landscape and the metaphysical, 'to rise by which one falls'. In the name itself, Eckersley works with this analogy. Like the interior emotional words of her paintings, this is a landscape which moves between the known and the unknown. This tension is what brings life to the paintings. The connectedness and clarity can be found in its unearthing. Eckersley's paintings are a result of her commitment to the process, paintings that bear the fruit of this mindful cross-disciplinary exploration.
